Seeking a memorable brand and a sales-ready website to launch this new online consultancy business

Get Grants is a spin-off, side-hustle for the folks at The Gild Group. They noticed they'd been spending a lot of time in their financial planning practice helping startups identify grants they were eligible for, and securing grants for clients through the complex government application process. So they turned it into a business in its own right. Startups were at the centre of the business from the very beginning, so building a brand that would speak their language was a critical first step to making the new business a success. Step two was strategically implementing a website design that simplified the process and made the usual overwhelming complexity of the government grant system easy to navigate.

Get Grants brand identity

Crafting a brand identity that connects with startups and small businesses

This project started from the very foundational building blocks of brand creation: coming up with a business name. Amit and the Get Grants team had a bunch of ideas for business names, but they knew they needed some catchier options to connect with their target audience of startups and small businesses seeking government grants. So they enlisted our help and we did some epic brainstorming to come up with a mega list of relevant business names. After honing a shortlist, we did all of the associated business name availability checks to ensure the name could be legally used and would last the distance (because no one wants to have to rebrand if they find this out later). And Get Grants was born.

Now we had a name, it was time to start working on the logo. A good way to know if a logo is going to be strong enough for a variety of outputs of media applications is to make sure it works in black and white. That's why our logo design process starts in black and white. Another advantage of taking colour out of the initial equation is that it forces simplicity. Logos need to be legible on everything from a tiny mobile device to a massive billboard. Simplicity ensures scalability and a logo that can quite literally grow with a business and go wherever it needs to go.

The chosen concept was the standout from the options we presented to the Get Grants team, and the next step was colour. We strategised with the team on the options with careful consideration of colour theory and competitors to craft a colour palatte that was simple, classic, and stood apart from other brands in the grants space.

The brand has a strong style guide, which has since been implemented across video and social media for a cohesive and recognisable brand identity.

Clean web design that is easy for potential leads to navigate and take action

Functionality was key to this design. A design that looks nice is good and well, but this new business needed a site that would help to convert leads right out of the gate. We used our tried and tested strategic framework to craft a website that was easy to navigate and that achieved top scores out of the gate for speed, accessibility, SEO and web standards.

Having a strong brand made the style of the website easy as we had a clear framework to follow to get the look and feel locked in. We sourced photography that included elements of the brand red and retouched them to ensure a consistent image tone and to adjust the red for a closer colour match to the brand to help reinforce that identity through every page on the site.

Growing the business with a virtual Chief Marketing Officer

Get Grants have a small team and run on a startup budget, reinvesting as they grow to build the business. Part of their investment is in a virtual Chief Marketing Officer to ensure that their in-house marketing is creating value. We work collaboratively with the team to translate their business goals into achievable marketing objectives, working backwards to produce a framework for marketing assets so leads are nurtured and the site is continually optimised for search.

We also provide ongoing implementation assistance, particularly in regard to the website with extra support for other marketing collateral, and to keep the website (the front door to the Get Grants business) maintained and in top condition.

We've worked with Nic on various projects and always found her to be well priced, super helpful, and an all round amazing human being to work with. We've also recommended her to many of our clients and received overwhlemingly positive feedback. Can't recommend Studio Clvr enough!

A memorable brand and a website that drives leads

A couple of years on from the launch of Get Grants, the business goes from strength to strength. What started as a side-hustle has become a fully-fledged business in it's own right.

The website has been fully optimised page-by-page for conversion success. Site structure and framework form the best possible foundation for future success, with scores between 96 and 100 (out of a possible 100) for performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO.

We continue to optimise the site over time via our virtual Chief Marketing Officer service and are gunning for 100 across the board! All of this helps to boost search rank as the site is recognised as more favourable over competitors in the market.

I look forward to continuing the relationship with the Get Grants team as we embark together on a new growth phase to build upon the excellent technical foundations of the site boost search traffic and simplify marketing through systems and automation.
