On AI: I've officially picked a side

We’ve all been using various forms of AI for decades without thinking about it (hello Google Search and Google Maps). I’ve been using AI as an explicit assistant in various forms since 2020 and have experience leveraging it for my business. This year, I started building AI tools to help speed up my work (and yours!).

I’m nervous here…

I have to admit that I’ve been a bit scared to launch my AI tools publically, and have delayed my AI tool launch because of this, which is ridiculous, I know! Here’s the thing: I know many colleagues and friends in my creator network are staunchly against using a tool that plagiarises the content of other creators, infringes on copyright, is terrible for the environment and in really extreme objections is going to lead us all to a Skynet-like doom. Terminator 2 scared the heck out of me as much as anyone, but I’m at a point where I realise that we’re on a road here, and I’d rather be a part of it than not. Stay with me here, I have a plan to eliminate some of those objections.

Helping you box clever

Studio Clvr has always been about helping expertise businesses leverage their clever, without slaving over all the business things that distract your focus away from your ‘Zone of Genius‘. AI is a huge opportunity for growing businesses. We have less red tape than larger organisations. We can test quickly, iterate fast, and respond to change at a pace that provides opportunities for scale that previously required serious investment. We’re already small, so the argument that we’re taking away jobs doesn’t fly here. But we can take advantage of opportunities to eliminate many of the business tasks that weigh us down.

When it launched in 2022, ChatGPT reached one million users in just five days (and it hit one billion users in April 2025). For comparison, it took Facebook 10 months, Twitter 2 years and Netflix 3.5 years to reach the one million-user milestone (Statistica). I’m sure you’re one of those users and have tested it out. Yet, data shows that while user numbers continue to grow daily, weekly user growth is tiny. That tells us that while many people log in to try out AI and see what they can achieve, far fewer use it regularly (Benedict Evans).

I have a hunch that’s because the output from AI is still clunky, and it’s taking more time for people to work out how to get what they want out of AI than to get AI to reliably do a task for them. Add to that the ethical concerns of my creator colleagues, and there’s a compelling view that while AI is saving time in some areas (like search), it isn’t having any tangible impact on the day-to-day functions of running a business, or in any cohesive systematized capacity within business operations.

Solving the problems of generic AI

So here’s what I’m doing to combat those problems at Studio Clvr:

  1. The tools I’m creating are trained explicitly for expertise businesses and consultants like you. My prompts are carefully engineered to train the AI on the required output. This means you get more out of AI on the first go. This requires less re-prompting to get the output you’re looking for (faster for you, less damaging to the environment).
  2. While some of my tools will help you with marketing content, most of them have a higher purpose to help you make strategic decisions for your business, to plan effectively, and systematize your business to promote scalability and all the benefits that go with that (increased efficiency, higher impact, faster growth, increased capacity, better work–life balance, flexibility) .
  3. The AI tools I’m creating are not isolated shiny objects. They are tools designed to connect to each other, and to your wider software and business operations for a truly cohesive and streamlined approach to the whole of your business.
  4. As an expert in your field, you can’t afford to let AI erode your authority. Generic AI content doesn’t help your business. Studio Clvr AI tools are designed to amplify your clever instead of regurgitating the algorithmic equivalent of the lowest common denominator. The agents I’m building are all assistants; because AI can never replace you as the expert of your domain.
  5. I’m building AI agents that promote your ideas and experience, rather than plagiarizing the work of others. When other content is sourced, it’s always cited to credit the original author.
  6. I am carefully following and creating my own set of responsible use principles to ensure that Studio Clvr AI agents don’t train large language models and to help keep your data safe. I don’t wanna train Skynet! I see a lot of businesses using AI without consideration of serious issues like data privacy, intellectual property, or brand value. My tools keep these issues front-of-mind, for the protection of your expertise.

Amplify with AI

I believe that AI can help small businesses amplify their clever. But like any tool, it’s how you use it that matters.
